NEW YORK — The former Knicks center revealed that his two Olympic gold medals and NCAA title ring went missing after a break-in at his New York home years ago. Ewing, speaking on the “Dan Patrick Show,” declined to specify when the burglary occurred.

USA basketball director Jerry Colangelo confirmed he received a phone call from a disheartened Ewing.

“He shared with me what had transpired and it really bothered me in terms of the loss (of the gold medals) because it meant so much to him,” Colangelo told the Daily News. “The gold medal — you hear a lot of stories about the impact gold medals have on people, and in his case it definitely did. And he was just expressing dismay over having those things stolen and I said, ‘Maybe there’s a way we can get those replaced.’ ”

Colangelo then facilitated replacement medals for Ewing.

“I spoke with people at USA basketball and we made it happen,” he said. “It was fairly simple.”

Ewing, who is now the head coach at Georgetown, won Olympic gold medals in 1984 and 1992. He said the stolen NCAA title ring, achieved with the Hoyas in 1984, was retrieved after it was put up for auction on eBay.

“Sometimes it sucks to be well-known,” the 57-year-old said.

Colangelo said he’s unaware of any other basketball Olympians requesting a replacement medal, although some players have auctioned off their gold.

Unfortunately for Knicks fans, Ewing never won any championships in New York. His best opportunities were snatched away by Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. But he was named to 11 All-Star games and won Rookie of the Year in 1986.

Ewing is a recurring figure in the wildly popular ESPN documentary, “The Last Dance,” which chronicles Jordan’s life and career. He played Jordan in college — losing in the NCAA final in 1982 — then served as a rival in the NBA and teammate in the Olympics.
