Mark Duplass earned his first acting Emmy nomination Tuesday morning, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to see his face on TV more often.

The 43-year-old actor and filmmaker, who was nominated for outstanding guest actor in a drama series for his role on “The Morning Show,” the Apple TV+ series starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon about a #MeToo scandal behind the scenes of a morning talk show and the ripples that causes, told the Daily News that he wasn’t expecting to the nod.

“I didn’t see it coming, to be honest with you,” he told The News Tuesday, shortly after the nominations were announced.

In total, “The Morning Show” racked up 15 nominations, including outstanding actor and actress in a drama series for Aniston and Steve Carrell.

The show had already filmed two episodes of the second season before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the set, but Duplass, who founded Duplass Brothers Productions with brother Jay in 1996, is looking farther ahead after his honor.

“If I can benefit at all from this nomination by being able to tell different kinds of stories with different kinds of voices before and behind the camera with my company, that’s what we need,” Duplass told The News.

Among his upcoming projects is a documentary on health care activist Ady Barkan, “Not Going Quietly,” which is currently being shopped to distributors.

Duplass also took time Tuesday to honor the Emmy nomination for longtime friend Lynn Shelton, an indie filmmaker who died in May.

“Awards can be silly but I’d love to recognize the support of the legacy of Lynn Shelton,” Duplass told The News.

Duplass and his production company have already launched a $25,000 grant to female or nonbinary filmmakers over the age of 39 who are working on their first feature film, like Shelton.

“There’s a lot of ageism in our industry,” Duplass told The News. “We want to send a message to people out there that it’s never too late to go out there and find your place.”
