Terry Bradshaw says Tom Brady isn’t the greatest quarterback of all time

This just in: Tom Brady isn’t the G.O.A.T. we thought he was.

At least, not according to a guy who knows the position as well as anyone.

“I don’t think he’s the greatest quarterback of all-time,” Hall-of-Famer and four-time Super Bowl champion Terry Bradshaw said during an interview with 93.7 The Fan. “It’s hard to say. He may be the best quarterback we’ve had in the last 30 years.”

OK, so who’s greater than the new Bucs quarterback, who won six Super Bowls in nine appearances with the Patriots?

Well, Joe Montana, for one, Bradshaw said.

Roger Staubach, for another.

Dan Fouts, too.

And Dan Marino.

What about his contemporaries?

“Is he better than Drew Brees?” Bradshaw asks. “Yeah, maybe.”

Bradshaw allows that Brady is the “best,” based on his number of Super Bowl wins. But those are team accomplishments, in Bradshaw’s opinion. “Greatness” has more to do with individual talent.

“Does he have more Super Bowls than anybody? Yes. Therefore, he’s the best,” Bradshaw said. “I absolutely have no problem saying it. If you’ve got the most Super Bowls, you can be in there. But I don’t put anybody as the greatest of all-time.”

Bradshaw also said he disagreed with Brady’s decision to leave the Patriots after 20 seasons to sign with the Bucs last month.

“It’s just a lot of things,” Bradshaw said. “I’m a little bit tired of all this soap opera going on between him and (Bill) Belichick,” Bradshaw said. “Look, he left because he wanted to prove something, and he wants to prove to everyone that he can win without Bill Belichick. Between all that, you say all the wonderful things (about Belichick) … but after 20 years, he’s leaving. You gotta be kidding me.”
