‘I am fine’, says Angela Merkel after third bout of shaking in under a month

German Chancellor Angela Merkel had to once again dispel concerns over her health on Wednesday after she was spotted shaking during a public event — the third such incident in under a month.

The 64-year-old was meeting with new Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne in Berlin when she appeared to shake uncontrollably.

“I am fine,” Merkel told reporters after meeting with Rinne.

“I have recently said that I am working through what happened during the military honours with President Zelensky.

“This process is clearly not finished yet but there is progress and I must live with this for a while but I am very well and you don’t need to worry about me,” she added.

“I believe that just as it happened one day, so it will disappear. Otherwise, I am convinced that I am quite capable (of doing my job),” she said.

The first time she was spotted shaking this way was in mid-June during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky but Merkel’s team assured those concerned that she was just dehydrated and had recovered after drinking a glass of water.

She reignited concerns just a week later when she went through another bout of shaking during a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
