CHICAGO — A 34-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in Parkway Gardens apartments, and a 5-year-old boy was among three others wounded in separate shootings on the South Side, Chicago police said.

The most recent shooting happened about 5 p.m. after an unknown male unleashed gunfire from a gangway in the 700 block of West 50th Place, according to police.

Two people, 5 and 19, were shot while they were on the porch of a residence, police spokeswoman Michelle Tannehill said.

The boy suffered a wound to the buttocks, and the man was shot in the abdomen area. Both were stabilized at an area hospital, police said.

No offenders have been taken into custody, and detectives are investigating.

In the fatal shooting, the victim was inside an apartment in the 6500 block of South King Drive, when an argument ensued and a known offender fired a gun, striking him in the chest.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, but was pronounced dead a short time after, police said.

The person who fired the weapon was taken into custody, and charges were pending, police said.

About 3:40 p.m., a 37-year-old man was in the 1500 block of West 100th Place when he suffered a graze wound to the thigh. He refused medical treatment, police said.

Police were investigating.
