Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Stephen Guidry, an undrafted rookie from Mississippi State, is taking the voluntary COVID-19 opt out from the 2020 season, according to sources.

Guidry is the second Cowboys player to take the opt out, joining cornerback Maurice Canady.

Guidry and Canady will be back on the Cowboys roster next season.

Guidry’s decision is interesting because he is an undrafted rookie who was considered a long shot to make the roster — a situation made even more daunting by the limited camp and eliminated preseason.

Guidry caught 49 passes for 827 yards and eight touchdowns at Mississippi State last season.

Cowboys veterans reported to the teams headquarters at the Star in Frisco on Tuesday to begin COVID-19 testing in advance of training camp. The players must pass three tests before taking a physical and being issued equipment.
