How Meghan Markle celebrated her 38th birthday – and why she didn’t have big party

Latest news

Meghan Markle celebrated her 38th birthday yesterday – her second as a member of the Royal Family and her first as a mum to little Archie.

Prince Harry marked the occasion by melting hearts with his romantic Instagram message to his wife, writing: “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!”

And we’re sure the loving husband made it a very, very special day for his wife, and with a host of celebrity pals including the Clooneys, Serena Williams and Jessica Mulroney, you would probably expect him to put on an epic party.

But according to an inside source Meghan avoided any big celebrations after backlash from her expensive New York baby shower.

A source told the Sun: “Frogmore Cottage will host a celebration for Meghan’s birthday.

“The Clooney clan will be in Villa Oleandra on Lake Como and the Sussexes will not want to be seen enjoying more of their lavish hospitality after the PR disaster backlash post the US baby shower.”

Meghan faced huge criticism last year when her pals spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on a baby shower at a top New York hotel.

The privately funded party was held at the £57,400-a-night Mark Hotel, which is home to the most expensive suite in America, and was attended by Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, Abigail Spencer, Misha Nonoo, and Gayle King.

The Pregnant Duchess spent five days in the city, shopping, relaxing and enjoying lots of good food.

She went to bakery Ladurée in New York’s SoHo district where she enjoyed macarons and tea with one of her pals.
